Conceal, Carry & Wear

NRA (National Rifle Association) Basic CCW course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. The course also satisfies the Maryland State Police requirements for obtaining a HQL and Maryland Wear and Carry Permit (HGP-Hand Gun Permit). Throughout the 2 day (16 hours) course we will:

  • Discuss the laws that cover firearms in Maryland

  • Teach basic handgun skills such as marksmanship and how to handle malfunctions

  • Firearm Safety (Mandatory)

  • Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense

  • Basic Defensive Pistol Skills

  • Drawing from Concealment

  • Loading and Stoppage Remediation

  • Mindset

  • Carry Modes and Pistol Concealment

  • Firearm Cleaning, and Sport Shooting and Training Activities

What Students Should Bring to Class:

  • Comfortable non-restrictive clothing.

  • No open toe shoes

  • No loose fitting or low cut tops

  • Lunch

  • Note taking materials

  • Handgun - Rentals available for $15 plus ammo (market price)

  • Outside the waistband holster w/belt

  • Concealment garment

  • Magazine pouch

  • 3 magazines

  • 200 rounds of ammunition

Day One - Classroom lessons, demos & hands-on dry-fire drills.

Day Two - Indoor range - conducting live-fire instruction, defensive pistol drills, shooting qualifications & written exam. Students need a firearm, holster, concealment garment, magazine pouch & 200 rounds of ammo.

Time:

Expect the start time for both days to be the start time listed in the class registration.

Location:

Classes will be held in Hunt Valley. Range time will be held at the Guntry range in Owings Mills, MD.

Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Guide: Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, take a Basic CCW Student Examination & receive an NRA course completion certificate.
